My loyal dog, you inspire me to write. 

How I love the way you play, run and bark, 

Invading my mind day and through the night, 

Always dreaming about the city park.

Let me compare you to a strike of light

You are so fast, you look like a white blur,     

your presence in my life is so brightening    

there is a calmness when I pet your fur. 

How do I love you? Let me count the ways. 

I love your cute nose, furry paws and eyes.

 Thinking of your active soul fills my days. 

My love for you is the tender surprise. 
 

Now I must away with a broken heart, 

Remember my soft words whilst we're apart.
